Ms. Marvel’s VFX team says the change in powers could be explored in future installments

Although Marvel Studios likes to stay exceptionally close to the source material, the Kevin Feige-led costume changed things. Mrs. Marvell, giving Kamala Khan (Iman Vilani) light building powers instead of the traditional “stretching” powers seen in the comics. Although the show’s first season lasted six episodes, it never really dived into the source of Khan’s powers.

As a member of the show’s visual effects team tells us, he thinks it was intentionally left open a bit so that it could be explored further in a future property.

“She obviously has a strong comic book history. There has been a huge effort to make sure that we don’t just incorporate things from the comics, but also her cultural history, things like the bracelet that has been passed down generations in her family, her relationships with a dimension of light, and the kind of powers she derives from that.” ‘,” Dave Cunningham of the digital space tells us.

He adds, “So her look is to make sure that all of those things come together to be a part of that rich, dramatic story is as much a part of her character as her strength from a comic book. I also think it leaves a little bit of room there for Ms. Marvel’s future projects to expand further into those powers.” .

From the jump, Cunningham says, Marvel was adamant about changing the powers to something akin to “hard light”.

“As you can see in Episode VI, she can extend the length of this brute light to give her a power shield that looks almost like an exoskeleton,” the director continues. “So it was imbued with some of these characteristics from the comic book, but it was the harsh light itself that leads to the stretching exercises. It was an interesting balance to try to hit between the rubbery ends of the comic and where we’re heading to the MCU with the strong light obtained from the Noor Dimension and bracelet.” “

Season 1 of Mrs. Marvell It is now streaming on Disney+.
